out of all the states and cities I have lived in anniston sucks the worst. There is not anything to do and jobs here don’t pay you enough to want to even live here.

if you’re on the I-20, just keep driving. don’t stop at the waffle house. don’t go to the mega walmart. drive faster. that town will kill you.

Anniston, Alabama definitely qualifies as a place that I can’t fathom why anyone would want to visit.
Perhaps to see family?
Yes, the base is closed, the nerve gas is burning, and the PCPs are still settling in.
There’s precious little to do for fun, precious few places to shop, and a whole heap of poor, ignorant folk who are proud that they’ve never been out of the county.

I left here in 1992 to go in the Navy, but ended up back here in 2000. I am trying my hardest to leave town, especially since the Army started buring the nerve gas stockpile.

One year I went to Fort McClellan for our unit’s annual training. Anniston was the town right out the gates. I was really disappointed at how little there was to do in town. However, having said that, it had one redeeming quality: a restaurant called Top o’ the River. Awesome fried catfish with yummy sides of cole slaw and hush puppies.
