Lake Placid

My family and I have been going here for years. When I was younger, I used to love visiting the Olympic sites, playing in the snow in front of the ice skating rink, swimming with friends, hanging out on Main Street. After several years, we had basically exhausted all the summertime activities in the area, but continued to go back. At home in New Jersey and Manhattan, life is always about getting things done, being places at certain times, fulfilling obligations, always having something to do. When we go to Lake Placid for two weeks, everything in the world just melts away. I can spend the whole day on my back at the bottom of a canoe floating across Mirror Lake, and I don’t have to think about anything except the breeze on my face and the clouds floating across the sky. I can paint the sunset over the mountains, or walk through the woods, or appreciate the feeling of my toes in the sand. It’s my favorite two weeks out of the year, because everything just slows down for a little bit. I like to think of it as recharging my batteries. Nothing is more refreshing than the mountain air. Maybe this all sounds a little bit corny or crazy, but I love it there and I plan on visiting for many years to come.

Was there to see Stars on Ice. Great show and a great village. Love being there in the winter. Such a wintery town.

My best friend NEVER stops talking about it. She goes every summer for about a week. This summer it will be 2. I want to know what all the fuss is about!!!

Truly spectacular beauty! The skiing here is great, especially cross country. I love it both in summer and winter.

This town needs a major overhaul. I don’t think it has been udpated since the early 80s when Lake Placid hosted the winter olympics.

I’ve been there a few times for the Empire State Games, it was pretty cool.

I really like Lake Placid, it’s a bit expensive here but definately worth visiting. If you are into beads and making jewlery you have to see Just Bead It. My friends and I spent about 4 hours in there last time we visited. Also, it is such a beautiful area to drive around and Whiteface Mt isnt too far down the road.
