A tip I have about this place

Pamplona is amazing. A great city to see Northern Spain by. Well connected by bus to Barcelona, Madrid, everywhere! Try the smaller towns, like San Sebastian, too.
Must sees include El Meson del Caballo Blanco (around the corner on the mountainside by the cathedral), Marengo on thursday nights for an all night dance fest with the young locals, Kataxu for some good sandwiches in a hip atmosphere. The one vegetarian restaurant in the city is really quite good as well. OH and I almost forgot my favorite! There is a tea shop down one of the Casco Viejo streets. Walk past Cafe Iruna on the right side, then turn right at the dead end, then turn left at the edge of the building/next street. Walk down (stop at the shoe store on the left on the end if it’s open…cheap cheap cheap) and it will be on your right, right before you reach the Mercado.
Gosh I love this town.

The last time I went to this place

the running of the bulls was a lot of fun… but I would stay away from the bull fight if I went again (but I probably won’t).

A tip I have about this place

I was completely unprepared for San Fermin. My friend and I felt that we could just stop in for a day, run with the bulls, and have a few cervezas. We did, but there is so much more to it. Plan to spend at least a couple of days there, and watch a race before you decide to run in it. Enjoy!

A great town with great food and a great launching point for side trips to see more of the Basque country.

A review of this place: Running with the People...

Crazy crazy city during the festival, I’ve never been to a party that crazy…waking up at 6am after sleeping behind a speaker in some disco to go run with the bulls…but thats another story all together.

A Must for anyone who likes to have a blast ala Mardi Gras, although im not sure anything could compare…

Booked my hotel room...

Hurray!

This is the one place/time on my trip where I think I can’t just show up and hope to get a room… sure I could just sleep in the park, or somewhere free, but I wanted a hotel to make sure I get some decent sleep before heading out…

Some of the hotel prices are just crazy… I’m booked in a small hotel that I’ve read is 6.0km from the old city, so I should be able to work out a way to get down early enough… I expect a few guests will be doing the same thing…

Check out this page for a bunch of hotels… Cheaper ones near the bottom…

July 2006

Hey,

Anyone else planning on going this summer?

At least that’s the plan… It’s gonna be fun… and hopefully not painful.
