Frederick

Just went there last night for dinner at Mexicali Cantina, which offers surprisingly good chimichangas. (I say “surprisingly” because I’ve had a hard time finding good Mexican food since I moved to the DC area from Arizona.) The staff is friendly, and the food consistently good (although I really can only attest to the chimichangas).

In D.C., Frederick, Md., may be best-known as one of the more affordable areas to live (albeit with a longish commute). However, what’s often overlooked is Frederick’s lovely downtown area, which boasts lots of arts, antiques and several great restaurants.
