Ventura

I just remember great shopping.

It’s not the best place to visit, but if you’re passing through, definitely check it out! I live a few miles away in scenic Ojai, so Ventura is where we have to go for anything remotely fun. There’s everything to do, great restaurants, good live music and nightlife if you know where to go, and generally nice sunny so-cal feel.

Depends on what you are looking for…

When I was here for one week I went to the Ventura county fair and it was jsut like any other fair and most of the week spent there was spent out by Death Valley and Santa Barbera off roading. The beaches were way to cold to swim, was there around August. Was very foggy but was told thats a seasonal thing there.

Went back and messed around in the shops on Main Street. Saw some incredibly beautiful clothing. Things that would probably feel fabulous to wear. But $345 for a single piece is not in the cards for the likes of moi.

I should go to more of the thrift stores there next time. There were some interesting clothes there, also most of the quality stuff was way out of date, showing that even the wealthy have a hard time letting go old clothes. My mother saved me from buying the horizontally striped red and white sweatshirt with the little sailing logo. Whew!

I’d rather not tell you much about this cool town, the harbor restraunts, the beaches, Main Street, the Channel Islands, and just keep it to ourselves. It’s far enough from the big city, yet close enough to everything.
