Henry Doorly Zoo

If you want to go here, make sure to set out a whole day for the zoo and have the right shoes. It’s very big, and everything is definitely worth a look.

right next to the baseball stadium, i went here a lot as a kid. my dad and his air force flight helped do maintenance on the atrium and helped construct the indoor rainforest, so we got to go in on closed/construction days. i still think it was amazing to have such an incredible zoo as my first zoo experience. i remember the monkey house smelled like monkey shit, but they had a scale you coul weigh yourself on that would tell you how much more apes weighed. and there were sharks, that shit was awesome. and a stupid train, that wasn’t so awesome, but still pretty cool. also, my first crush was on a zookeeper lady in khaki shorts with a band-aid on her thumb.

This is probably one of the best zoos I’ve been to. (including San Diego zoo, and that one was awesome!) We never even left the front of the zoo, and spent 6 hours there. I hope to go back some day so I can see the rest of the zoo!

All the red sand in the “Astrodome” was imported from Arizona…my home! The zoo was fun, and that is what I call a ZOO!

i pretty much decided that i’m going to the zoo once a week, for exercize purposes, and because i cant resist the animals. no trip to the zoo is ever the same.

A friend of mine is going to be going here, and I want so badly to meet her! Here’s hoping I can make it!

So many animals and so many beautiful enclosures… I love the rainforest and aquarium. It’s amazing… If you’re in Omaha then you need to visit the zoo.
