Tofino

I am a 17 year old boy from Suwanee, Georgia. I was raised in a suburban town to a set of divorced parents. My mother traveled to Tofino on her honeymoon with my step-father. They fell in love with it and using their mid-upper class earnings, purchased a condo in the area. They see the place as a beautiful area with marvelous trails for hiking and a great place for my younger brother to go surfing. Myself however went there at age 14 for the first time. I was a 5 foot 5 inch 190 pound akward child. I found myself too self-conscious to desire to surf with my brother, as I was too embarassed to subject myself to the teasing or failure I may have encountered. Being a younger child especially of the current culture our children go through, I found myself staying in the condo quite a bit as well and watching TV and simply squandering my time in this beautiful place. I took this place for granted because I failed to see the beauty of this nearly untouched place. Over the course of the following years, I lost some weight and I found myself wandering this beautiful town. By foot or with the assistance of a bicycle I spent many of my days lost in thought atop a rock formation, or walking through woods and exploring and finally coming to terms with this peculiar and marvelous place, and it deeply saddens me to see the swarms of tourists (such as myself) corrupting this amazing place.

fantabulous!!! my friend was disapointed in the lack of hippies giving him a love hug, but otherwise it was amazing. I went surfing on the beach and enjoy lots of exisitng while I was in tofino for a weekend. Funny enough my love who i live with went to tofino in the same time span and we meet latter.

If you don’t mind occasional mistiness and rain Tofino’s really nice! It was cool because I never saw went in the ocean before…, seeing whales was cool too.

My husband and I went to Tofino on our honeymoon. We stayed at the Wickininnish Inn. I LOVED it. We had side-by-side massages in a private little house on the beach…. it was so nice. We also took the boat tour to the hot springs. We took a hike through the rainforest and then when we reached the natural hotsprings we took a dip and relaxed. It was so beautiful there, the hotsprings flowing down into the ocean. We would love to go back for our 10th anniversary. :)

at the The Wickaninnish Inn. A very relaxing place, on the beach, just outside Tofino. Went whale watching, and took in some truly beautiful scenery.

Beautiful in the summer, amazingly powerful in the fall and winter. Storms come in and are astonishing to watch! Be careful though, the waves and rip currents can easily pull you out to sea! (Good way to end a vacation eh?)

It was windy and cool but we did two nature tours: saw numerous black bears on the island shores and grey whales out in the bay/ocean. Our guide was about 23 years old but drove our boat like a seasoned veteran. (the sea was stormy)-very exciting! We stayed in a B&B and there was an adorable cat who was super friendly-visited us every morning. The B&B as I recall was a Finnish style retreat complete with private suana (The Suana House) and fresh baked muffins every morning. Not too expensive either. Flowers blooming all over the place (went in early June), good food, a real special place.

Most Beautiful Place On Earth!!!

Wood fired sauna was the B&B’s claim to fame. Interesting experience. Long beach is glorious as is the rainforest. The drive across Vancouver Island is awe-inspiring with the play of light, shadow and mist and Cathedral Grove.

Visiting Tofino was the catalyst for learning to surf. Can’t wait to go back. SOON!
