Good food by queensolver

My mom has a lot of friends that live here. We’ve been a couple of times. It’s always good to go see the entire city, not just Times Square or Manhattan, but the other people. The people who aren’t glamorous :)

I live here, best neighborhood ever! by rtnyc1

Astoria rules, i’ve lived here for about 5 yrs now and I wouldnt want to live anywhere else. The neighborhood is clean and quiet, the people are really cool, the food is awesome (except for the chinese food, for some reason it sucks), and it is conveinent to the city. Its a great place to live and an interesting place to visit. Theres some cool nightlife, not as dynamic as manhattan, but not as damn expensive either. Definently worth visiting.

Nice place, though my encounters have always seemed brief! by NedRaggett

But my relative lack of experience in the area is made up for by the fact that I’ve always enjoyed being here with friends that know the spot well, whether it’s to explore a restaurant or get a drink or the like. (Also my friends M. and J. live nearby but I can never remember if they actually live IN Astoria as such. And I’ve crashed with them before too!)

Lived here for just over a year... by pcow5

I live here. The only thing of note to see or visit is the Bohemian beer garden. However, the town has grown on me. It is quiet and convenient to Manhattan at a cheaper price. The bars are decent for a chill night out. But not really a place to visit. The food is subpar IMO. If I had a choice, I’d be living in Manhattan or Brooklyn…

Very close to Manhattan, but a lot cheaper to live. Good food, friendly people, nice park and waterfront, and close to subway system.

what's left to say about astoria? by Chris Hollander

I fell in love with my high school sweetheart in astoria park, and proposed to her on the swings ten years later. I drank my first beer on the strip- and drank more beers at McCanns Pub than any other bar in the world. No souvlaki will ever taste as good as one from Tony’s Opa Opa, no slice of Pizza will ever be as good as frankies, and no chinese food will ever be as good as china palace down on 20th avenue. the Rat Hole under the train station on ditmars was the best pool hall ever, and the old movie theater on steinway street will be always be better than the regal begal. Cup is good for dinner, and Fatty’s is bestest for brunch.

The most diverse borough within the most diverse and vibrant city in the country. Possibly, the world.
