Kenosha

I rode up from Chicago on a Metra weekend pass. Ate at Frank’s Diner (which I saw on the Food Network), checked out the free museum, rode the streetcar, walked along the lake front, browsed in some cool stores, and had a bratwurst. There was also a classic car show on the day I was there, so I got to look at a bunch of collector cars, too.

If you’re making the trek to this area, make sure you stop by the lakefront. The view in the early morning or at night is amazing, especially from the area around the historic lighthouse.

Note: I grew up here, so I may be a bit biased!

I live here in Kenosha and I love it. There are some bad parts of town just like most anywhere. Not too big not too small…and lots and lots of bars!

If you want a town that is depressing, dark, full of unfriendly people, lots of thugs, skinheads, rudness, darkness, broken roads, etc. this town is for you. I hate Kenosha. Seems like this town is surrounded by cemetaries. Very very depressing. Highly not recommended.

I grew up in the county here! Not much to do but there is Mars Cheese Castle & The Brat Stop for touristy WI things! The fair is worth attending and if you’ve never seen Lake Michigan ~ GO!
If you like rootbeer go to Andy’s Drive In ~ SO good ~ it’s homemade & buttery like. I believe on Wed in the summer they have car show’s there.

Lived on the border of IL & WI and would always drive over to the Mars Cheese Castle for their aged cheddar! YUM!

Ke-no-where! The lakefront is nice. Other than that, no thanks.

I moved away long ago and have no intention of going back (other than to visit relatives, of course).

Worth it for the friendly people and the summer lightning storms, but not really my kinda place.

Really cute harbor town. I liked the ‘downtown’ area and general feel.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve been there, but there will always be some great memories. Nice place to stop, located between Milwaukee & Chicago on Lake Michigan.
