Junior's Deli aka: Junior's

I worked here for a day, then got fired the next but I still get me some cheesecake.

I’ve been spoiled by being very close to Junior’s Grand Central location, and thought I would go to the original location in Brookyln. The Brooklyn location is very large, and is a short distance from the Brooklyn bridge. Last night when I went there, the restaurant was mostly empty, and we were seated in the bar area near the back. The cheesecake was very good of course, and the rest of the menu is probably as good as any other diner. What really shocked me was they added the gratuity onto the bill, and made no mention of it. This is a real pet peeve of mine, and increasingly restaurants are starting to do this. There were only four of us, and we just had cheesecake. You expect a place to add the gratuity on when your with a large group, but not for when it’s just four people.

If I lived in Brooklyn, I would stop by for carry out Cheesecake, but I don’t think I would eat in again.

but not anymore…the service is lousy and the one thing that they used to be famous for, cheesecake, has become a joke…if you are traveling through nyc, skip it…this is coming from a native new yorker…

Juniors is fun with a big group – they’re Reubens are pretty decent, as are their brownies. You may think about visiting park slope and hitting some of the restaurants in that neighborhood to get a different look/feel of Brooklyn while you’re there.

The cheesecake is to die for, but the rest of the food is not that great.
