Baltimore-Washington International Airport aka: BWI, Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport

I’m glad this place is now situated as separate from Baltimore city.

This airport is well outside of the city.. it’s not like Ronald Reagan airport which is right next to D.C… there’s a LOT of development in Anne Arundel Co going on these days so arriving at BWI drops you into a place that’s, in my opinion, definitely not Baltimore. When I was a kid it was called Friendship Airport, and I think it was actually owned by the city of Baltimore until the state of Maryland bought it.. Maryland Aviation Admin. runs it.

I had never been to the New England area before flying in and had to rent a car to drive to DC, I didnt know anybody at all or even how to get to where I was going. I was impressed by the to the point attutude of the east coast people, they dont have time for bullshit and arent interested in it.

It’s the middle of the night, I cant sleep, and I just had to bag another airport.
I wonder if the great R8 has been here????

I really hate airports in general, but BWI isn’t bad and it is pretty easy to get in an our of.

I don’t go here too often, since I’m afraid of planes now and I try not to fly too much. but BWI is a pretty cool airplane. I got to go “behind the scenes” (in some of the control rooms, in the cockpit of a plane, etc.) when I was taking a Fear of Flying class, and it was pretty cool.

I was stuck there for hours on end. It was supposed to be a 2 hour layover which ended up turning into 4 and then 5 hours. Stuck in the same area, because security clearance is needed to leave, just makes this place horrible to be in. I’m hoping not to get stuck at any airport like this again. It’s fine as long as you’re flying out again quickly…but for a long period….this is like insanity=painful.
