Like mjime003, I went to school at UNBC in Prince George. I did have some fun times here. Rick’s downtown (on 3rd Ave, I think) is really worth going to! I think Rick makes the best espresso in PG.
The town has some problems- mostly with a rotten egg/used diaper type smell, as a result of the pulp mill. It’s really noticeable when the weather is cold, or when there’s no wind.

I went to school at UNBC in PG for a year and have mixed feelings. I thought it was a pretty place, not the city, definitely not the city, but the surrounding was beautiful, although everyone else at UNBC didn’t think so, but then they were basing this from their other experiences in BC. If you are going, check out Rum Jungle for a crowded weekend hangout, and if there on a thursday, go to Sargeant’s pub located downtown beneath The Coastal Hotel. Also, if you want a true PG experience, check out Cadillac downtown near this parking garage, you’ll see the sign. Also, if you have yet to try out 6 pin bowling, a true Canadian experience, there is a place downtown near a store called “The Brick.” Downtown is small, but it has some cool shops such as this really neat second hand shop near the end of downtown. People here are generally nice, so ask if you are lost or trying to find something, unless it is night time, oh, and downtown is dodgy at night. Also, cabs are very hard to come by on the weekends, so be prepared to wait an hour or more. All of this is during the school year, including ‘happening’ places, so if there during the summer, all bets are off. There are some nice hiking trails behind UNBC, check them out.

Am heading through Prince George at the end of 2005, on way to celebrate either in Big White, or Burns Lake, somewhere in the middle of British Columbia. Can’t wait. Hope it’s cold.

Not worth visiting!
i worked there for a summer and didn’t really find anything great there. it’s a small city, but nothing really great. the scenery is good and the altitude is good for cross-training (running and cycling) if that’s what you’re up for. other than that, i need to give it a thumbs down for attraction-ness-ability-sion-ery.
