I went there when I was very young (4 or 5) but I do remember the beauty of looking out across the mountains. To think that at one time someone found this place to cross over into territory that had not been explored before just fascinated me. Of course, the Daniel Boone show was watched everytime it came on—-”Daniel Boone was a man, was a big man…”

The video at the visitor’s center is pretty cheesy and hilarious, but I wouldn’t visit just for that. If you are a Daniel Boone junky, I’d say go for it, but otherwise, it’s not much of an experience. Daniel Boone national forest, on the other hand, is worth hiking around in.

There are caves to explore in the mountains. It is pretty. You should go.
