I grew up around Hampton, and I must admit that it is a pretty tacky beach. NH has less than 20 miles of seacoast, but you would be much better off traveling a little further north to find a nice beach.
By the way, the photo above taken by Snowberry is a good example of the interesting houses you will come across while driving on coastal route 1. The local rumor is that the structure on top of that house is a pool and/or hot-tub, but I have never seen it up close… It is probably just a Widow’s Walk…

First Grade—1981. Wow.

I grew up going to Hampton on summer weeknights. I went back a few summers ago with my husband and staying overnight made a big difference – you can experience more than just the beach. There was a decent Beatles tribute band playing while we had dinner on an outdoor balcony. We’ll be heading back this summer with our daughter.

I didn’t really like Hampton beach, it was overly tacky, overly touristy and seemed really dirty. Unless they’ve done one bang up job in the past couple of years of cleaning the place up, Hampton Beach isn’t somewhere i’m in a rush to ever go back to.

Used to come here every summer with the family to beach it for a week. Not as nice as some beach locations I’ve been but made some really good memories here all the same.

Took the US-1 up north starting from Boston. It’s a pleasant drive along the coast, although we didn’t end up in Portland ME (because we took the long scenic route and stopped a few times), still a nice place to discover =O)

We were pretty amused by this beach front property, not at Hampton, but somewhere near there, I think?

My folks used to take us on vacation to Hampton Beach every summer when I was growing up… now I take my kids there. It’s a fun place that the whole family enjoys.

Would love to return again and see the harbor and my dads and grandparents rock plaque. My grand parents lived on Hampton beach my dad grew up there,right by the blue jay hotel. Memories….............
