The Franklin Institute

It was interesting. Would have preferred more about the movies and less about the tie-ins to real tech, but I guess they need the educational component to justify the funding and locale.

What a great museum! My son absolutely loved it, so much so that we became members. We haven’t seen the King Tut exhibit yet, but will go before it closes.

King Tut is coming! We saw the exhibit in L.A., and I’d hoped to get to Chicago to see it again, since I think my son will get more out of it now than he did a couple of years ago (we’ve done a lot of studying on ancient Egypt, so his knowledge base is much better). Now, I’ve come to find out it’s coming to Philly . . . and guess who’ll be moving to Philly, temporarily, in a couple of months. YAY! We are definintely going to see this exhibit there. Maybe more than once.

They have an awesome exhibit on Darwin through the end of the year (2006). Definitely worth seeing. The IMAX showing of the Galapagos is very interesting as well.

I rode the Sky Bike!

I was absolutely terrified, too. My brother-in-law did it after me, and he was having a ball – rocking back and forth, everything. While we were watching him go crazy, an old guy standing right next to us dropped his cell phone over the railing, and we got to learn all about the powerful effects of gravity on mobile communications devices ;)

Don’t miss the new, cleaned-up heart (no more funky smell!), Sir Isaac’s Loft & Newton’s Dream (super-awesome kinetic sculpture), and Sonicvision at the Fels Planetarium.

This is a great place to go to if you’re ever in Philadelphia… much better than the average museum.

Mom used to work here and was actually forced to quit when she was expecting me.

The Franklin Institute is the best place ever! I have been trying to get there again with my friends recently. It’s great for all ages and your children will love you soooo much if you take them there! So much cool stuff!

When I was a young girl in the girl scouts, tons of troops got the chance to sleep over at the franklin institute once a year! I think they still do this, ...the first year I went we slept in the clock room… tick tick tick… ahhhh!

But the second year we slept in the weather room, and my friend and I spent all night hitting the buttons for the miniature tornado model.
