Unequalled in the world

The gallery contains a magnificent collection of Early and Late Gothic as well as Early and High Renaisance art, unequalled in the world.

Booking online is recommended.

Why I recommend this place to visitors

Lots of beautiful art – though I only remember “The Birth of Venus”.

A tip I have about this place

Visiting in Sept. was a good idea, as was actually being at the museum when it opened. The line was not all that long, and it was totaly worth it.

A tip I have about this place

The line for this place is crazy, but it is worth it….There are endless rooms of amazing art that is very famous. Make sure you go to this gallery on a day where you are enthusiastic about tours, because the tours through this place can take hours and you still won’t see it all.

A tip I have about this place

Go with a group, you get in faster. It’s so worth it anyway, but with a tourgroup your won’t be dealing with street vendors as long.

A tip I have about this place

Just a little warning: Michalangelo’s David is not here. Even though there is a replica of it in front of the entrance.
Other than that, beautiful works of art.

A review of this place: One of the world's great galleries

Not only is the architecture superb but the collection is superb. If you cannot find at least half a dozen paintings that either stun you or reduce you to tears at the Uffizi then you are lacking a soul and should just stay home.

The one major drawback are the tourist groups shuffling through and standing a foot away from large renaissance pictures that deserve to be viewed from at least several feet away.

Book a ticket, and do so as far in advance as possible unless you are going in the off season or don’t mind a long queue. I was fortunate in that my first visit was with my wheelchair bound Mum – this meant no queues, free entry and I used her wheelchair to just push the tour groups out of the way.

The first time I went to this place

I was just there last Friday (nov 17) and didn’t have to wait in any line! For those that don’t like to stand in long lines, try Firenze in the off peak season. I loved it and wish I could have stayed longer! Also, for hostelers, the Archi Rossi hostel was recommended to me by a few on 43places and I thought it was awesome, cheap, and easy to find.

Pay the 3 extra euros to pre-order your tickets, it’s worth not waiting in line for hours.

The last time I went to this place

I ended up getting this huge migraine, and we had to leave early. I wish we had spent at least half a day in here. It holds Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus” and works by every famous Italian artist in history. Plus, it’s set in the heart of Florence, which is a beautiful city.
