St. James's Park

St. James Park is one of my very favorite places anywhere. It’s a lovely place to sit and people watch, feed the birds, and enjoy a peaceful and beautiful oasis in the middle of all the bustle. I make sure to visit it every time I’m in London.

I live in Westminster and this is definitely my favorite park. It’s smaller but less crowded and has a nicer feel than places like Hyde Park. The small lake is exactly the right size to reflect the trees and famous buildings around it.

Spent many a happy childhood afternoon feeding the birds in this park.

after watching the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace to get to the Churchhill War Rooms. The park was filled with people sitting on the benches, feeding the numerous types of waterfowl & birds, and quiet spots to people watch. It really is lovely and transports you so that you can’t believe you are actually in the center of such a large & thriving city as London. Watching this older gentleman feeding the birds, I heard the refrain of “Feed the birds, tuppence a bag..” running though my head!

My friend and I were walking around the park and stopped to sit on a bench. We were just writing in our journals and these teenage tourists kids started taking pictures of us. They were waving and smiling at us. It felt like paparazzi or something. It was rather humorous.

My friend James and i sat for hours having a bottle of wine back there and trying to befriend squirrels. i don´t really understand why people where looking at us as if we were crazy people…
Summer days are the in London!

It’s a beautifully landscaped park that hosts something like fifty-some odd species of waterbird. There’s thousands of photographic opportunities, which made it one of my favorite spots in all of London.

I used to work close to St. James’ Park. I always stopped in on my way to work and often had lunch here (well, in Summer anyway!). My absolute favourite thing was watching the birds – the swans, ducks and others – have their babies in spring and then following them as they got older.
