Arlington National Cemetery

The sentinals are so spectacular to watch! If you have a child in your group, get information to them about what they will see, before you are standing at the tomb. The ambiance is pretty quiet, and if you hold the child close, and refer to your conversation, they will get more out of it, than if you try to tell them everything right there. I know my first time there, I didn’t understand a bit of what was going on.

there is so much to see. the arlington house, the tomb of the unknown soldier, kennedy graves. we walked around for hours. entrance is free, and parking isn’t too bad if you get there early.

I have family buried here, and I was completely overwhelmed by the enormity of the place. It is definately something to see, especially the Tomb of the Unknown Solider and Kennedy’s Eternal Flame. The staff is very helpful in locating specific sites as well.

I’ve been to the Cemetery before, but I specifically wanted to visit the Women’s Memorial this time around. I found that in addition to their general exhibit, the Faces of the Fallen is also on display here. As with the Vietnam Memorial, people have begun to leave personal momentos and messages in memory of these men and women and it is incredibly powerful and very well worth visiting.

“WORTH VISITING!” seems a bit obnoxious for a cemetery. But so do cannons and guns, I guess.

One of the most profound places I’ve been.

8th grade. somehow separated from the group. ‘nuff said.

I spent the entire morning here. There are benches throughout, perfect for sitting and just being present.

You simply have not completed your D.C. experience if you have not visited the Tomb of the Unknowns and witnessed a wreath-laying and Changing of the Guard.
