Arlington National Cemetery

You can’t help but feel a sense of reverence as you walk upon these hallowed grounds. It’s unbelievable how many people have dedicated their lives to the service of their country.

We rode the tourmobile around the cemetery to hear some of the stories about the people who are buried here.

We stopped at the usual places like the Eternal Flame and the Tomb of the Unknowns.

I was amazed at a steep hillside which held a large number of cenotaphs, headstones with no grave. These were memorials to those who went missing in action and are presumed to be dead, whose remains were never recovered.

I discovered the memorials to our two shuttle disasters, the Challenger and the Columbia. Several of the astronauts were buried nearby.

A place every American should put on there list of 43 things they must experience!!! very moving. An incredible place.

If you walk through this place you will be overwhelmed. You will begin to understand the true cost of freedom.

We went for our 8th grade trip. It was the most memorable thing I saw while in Washington DC.

Its been years and years since Ive been! But I have a uncle who is buried in the Arlington Cemetery! I want to go back, and I want my husband to be able to go!

After visiting this cemetery I was very humbled. Things are put in perspective, it is worth visiting.

It’s a great way to pay respect to our fallen soldiers and visiting the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a feeling like no other. Be prepared to do the 20 minute walk to get there though!

My school got to put a wreath for the tomb of the unknown soldier. Also, I saw the kennedy graves.

Wow, I never knew a graveyard could have such a peaceful feeling. Strange.
