Castle Bran

While the castle itself is picturesque, it’s hard to get passed the thousands of tourists and dracula souvenir schlock…all in all I was not that impressed. For a more authentic Dracula castle experience, check out his mountain-top fortress at Poeinari (near Curtea de Arges). No tourists and some of the best scenery in the Carpathians makes this place ideal.

My dad and I were going through eastern Europe, the summer after The WALL fell (‘90)- obviously, went to Dracula’s castle. We had lunch at a “restaurant” in the town below the castle…Now, I don’t know how it is today, but back then, every restaurant in eastern Europe seemed to have a printed menu with many items, but really, they only had 1-3 things that were actually advertised…This was true at this particular eatery, and we laughed about it with a couple German tourists…they told us a story about being in another restaurant in Romania (I think)-They asked for milk, and the server said “yes, but you have to wait for the cows to come in” Sure enough, a little while latter, they could hear the cows coming in, and soon after…Milk.

best place in the worl

This is the most beautiful man-made place I’ve seen. And the setting in the mountains is perfect! It didn’t seem creepy at all to me – everything was so clean and kept up. The furniture inside the castle is quite ornate and the village is fascinating. Worth every penny – I want to go back!

Absolutely captivating! Not nearly as eerie as one would thing, just don’t try to touch anything!

worth visiting, but don’t fall for all that Dracula crap. The castle of Vlad Ţepeş (aka Vlad The Impaler, aka Dracula) was in Târgovişte, not Bran.

It was pretty cool, but you didnt really get to go into any of the awesome places – they were all roped off. :(

I bet it would have been mad at night!

I am such a horror fan. I love the mysteries that surround this castle and the stories that surround it as well. I would love to go explore all around it and inside of it also.
