Luray Caverns

Coolest caves I’ve ever been in! A good time to be had by all.

every year since first grade us locals go to luray caverns on a field trip in some sort of earth science trip.
now that im older than when i first went (i was 7 so i was scared of everything) its really interesting. absolutely beautiful

Approximately twenty years ago, the love of my life (who is now deceased) took me to Luray Caverns. I was so happy.

This cavern isn't 'rustic' as all the others I've visited.  The aisles are wide and there is good illumination.  The lights are turned off during specific presentations.  There is a naturally formed organ with pipes that plays beautiful music all by itself.

The caverns are beautiful, but after you’ve seen those and driven through a lot of mountainous scenery, there’s not much else to do! Or at least, not much that I could find last summer.

Wicked awesome

The cave paths were well maintained and fairly trouble-free. Amazingly still water in the underground lakes, and the concept of an organ made with “stalagpipes” was neat to see in action. Afterwards, we asked one of the staff for a local place to eat and were referred to Dan’s Steakhouse. We had the best steak dinner we’ve had in ages, and a very reasonable price! Family friendly atmosphere, great sweet tea, and great service. It would be worth the trip just to eat there.

It’s wonderful to walk around in the cool caverns when it is beastly hot outside. The caverns are beautiful—I took way too many pictures of all the cool rock formations.
