The place is lovely. You could have a nice view of Brooklyn Bridge, watch helicopters come and go at the nearby helipad, or watch a men’s choir (forgot their name) on Christmas season.

The first time I went to this place

I wound up here in 2003 after crossing the bridge from Brooklyn. Had some food and went back on the road to Philly. Never knew what it was called until a friend commented on a myspace pic and now I know where it is so I can go back there in the fall when I get back to NYC.

I walked over the brooklyn bridge from brooklyn to manhattan, then went to the bodies exhibition

stopping in chinatown for dim sum and chinatown ice cream factory ice cream on the way. Who says you can’t eat dim sum on your own!

The last time I went to this place

I took the water taxi that comes over from l.i.c. in queens to the seaport on a saturday afternoon that I had nothing better to do with. As silly as it sounds, I had a great day! I could have done without the $10 fare per way from the water taxi but i said what the hell – I never do this. At the seaport I forgot how much there is happening! There is the typical mall setting but then you have the indoor bungee jump thing (which i didnt do since I was wearing a skirt), the little trinkets for the tourists which I always get a kick out of, the performance artists outside and just the peoplewatching which is hilarious when you have the right person with you to partake in it. We took a walk down towards the Staten Island ferry to see the helicopters too. Not bad for a little touristy thing day in your own backyard.

Went there for a Tegan and Sara show a few years ago.

Nice place, despite the fishy smell. And their Pizzeria Uno is bangin’. I’d defintely go back.

Having lived.....

right outside NYC for many years and then living in Brooklyn for a few years….you tend to get used to all the places possbile that are either touristy or just a unique place to check out. South Street Seaport is awesome! In 1998 my best friends family and mine left out of the port on Norwegian Cruise Line’s Bermuda Cruise, that was one of the first times I had realized what an awesome little area that is. Definitely a must see for locals or tourists.
