A review of this place

One of my favorite towns. The best ice cream, the most interesting city layout.

The old town center is very nice. Small roads with a lot of small bars and shops. Make sure you walk to the castle on top of the hill.

Marburg ist die schoenste Universitaetsstadt

Marburg was a wonderful place to live and study. Small enough to learn really well (to the point of seeing the same people on the busses and street corners after a while) yet big enough to hold your interest.

Additionally, I think Marburg is a beautiful example of a university town. It is comparable to Heidelberg, but I found it far more interesting and less over-run with tourists. It is convenient to Frankfurt, Kassel, and the rest of Germany.

If you go there, you must get a Doener Kebab at Sofra Doener in the Lahn Center. Aside from one random Doener that I got in Trier once, these Doeners were the best I had in Germany. And the staff is very very friendly. And Molly Malone’s is a great little Irish pub with live Irish music and great deals for students.

WS04/SS05

I studied here for a year. Parts of it are a dream. Swans, Castles, River walkways with people playing in the grass, a Gothic cathedral, and lots of students having the times of their lives. The nicest city in the area. The only city I like as much in Hessen is Limburg.

Amazing

My grandmother, mom, and I took a trip to Germany. My mom was born in Germany and moved here when she was a kid, so her whole side is German (I’m 1/2 and 1/2 – German and Indian). Oma (grandma) goes there about 5 times a year, but my mom and I hadn’t been there for about 9 years.
We left June 12th and spent a few days in Marburg – I fell in love. I want to go back so badly. I could’ve lived there. It has the old and the new – amazing.
My mom and I spent a few days in a place an hour outside of Frankfurt where my great aunt and unkle live.
After that, we spent the remaining time in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. All beautiful. Marburg just gave me something special though. I recommend a visit for anyone. Some pictures from me are posted in Marburg. :)
The picture is Marburg schloss (castle). The crooked tower you see there is from a church. There’s a joke in German, that once translated, it mainly says “the day a virgin bride gets married in [this] church, the tower will straighten.”
