Strawberry Fields

Why I want to go to this place

I especially wish I could be there tomorrow, because it’s our dear Lennon’s 26th deathday. :/
Oh well, someday!

I put that it was worth going to, because it probably was, but it wasn’t very nice when I went. Just because I didn’t stay long because I thought two bums were about to shoot each other, they were being really mean. Which really kind of ruined the mood. But it was still amazing…I’ll upload a picture when I get the chance. Also, I think I saw Yoko Ono there! (:

The first time I went to this place

I like Paul McCartney more, but since I walked an hour to see John Lennon Wall in Prague, I don’t see why I don’t go to this place.

Somehow I’ve always missed it when I was walking/running in central park, even though I know roughly where it is.. and today I realized.. it is so much smaller than I had imagined… and nobody was singing…

The first time I went to this place

I know this is starting to sound like a broken record, but when I was on the Great Peace March (gosh, I sound like someone’s grandpa!) I was able to visit this remarkable part of Central Park. It is dedicated to the memory of John Lennon Ono. This was a man I greatly admire, and it was sad for pretty much every one of his fans when he was murdered. Yet, Strawberry Fields is a place of hope, not grief.

The great mandela alone is reason enough to make a pilgrimage to this lovely garden area. It is a wonderful place to meet kindred souls and make new friends. If I had the chance to go there again, I’d be there right now. I’d light a candle for peace and hum “Give Peace a Chance” as I thank God for creating John Lennon Ono.

Why I recommend this place to visitors

When you go here around the anniversary of John Lennons death there are tons of people who have a candlelight vigil around the mosaic. A lot of the people bring guitars and sing John Lennon songs all through the night. The Dakota where he lived is also right across the street.

When I visited this spot, there were dozens of people standing around a band, singing along to the music.

Great place to visit for any John Lennon fan. Especially since the Dakota is so close by—you can even see where he lived in NY!

This is my favorite place in the world. I haven’t been in a few weeks, and it saddens me that I won’t be able to for a while.

Not september 11

I overheard someone saying ‘it’s not for september 11, that was 5 years ago, they wouldn’t have a memorial for that now!’ as they walked past the Imagine memorial.

I just sat on the chairs for a while with ‘strawberry fields forever’ then ‘imagine’ running through my head, wondering what john lennon would think of recent world events. Thinking how we could do with some more peaceniks in the world right now.
