Tower Bridge

Beautiful bridge with the Tower of London nearby for some great photo shots. It’s fun to be there when the bridge opens up to let ships go through!

Shad Thames and Hay’s Galleria are a short walk away for some restaurants and bars.

There is an enclosed walk way at the top of Tower Bridge that has now been turned into a museum. The price of admission also allows access to a museum containing the steam engines originally used to open and close the bascules.

I can’t say that the museum was worth the £5.50 entrance fee. There were a couple of videos on why and how the bridge was built. The view from the walkway wasn’t fantastic. You get a better view from the top of St Paul’s or the Eye. Personally I think you should save your money. The best view is of the bridge itself and you don’t have to pay to look at that!

Be sure to pop into The Dickens Inn for a pint while you’re there!

It’s free (the bridge itself is anyway), so what the heck – it’s prettier in my opinion than London Bridge, and the Tower of London (right next to Tower Bridge) is definitely well worth a visit. So come with a camera, and at least get that obligatory photo.

You’ve got to get a picture of this landmark when you visit london for the first time. Get your picture and move on, there is nothing else to see.

I’ve been fortunate enough to see it opening and closing to let a ship through. Awesome! The opening and closing is tested regularly so its worth getting in touch with the Port of London authorities to find out when a testing is scheduled, or a ship passing through scheduled, and be there to watch!

if you’re planning on going to the tower of london (which you MUST, because it’s awesome), you might as well stop at tower bridge too. it’s very impressive in person—beautiful! i absolutely loved it.

A lot of people do not realise that you can go inside the bridge for a tour. You get to see the mechanism that is used to raise and lower the bridge and you get to walk across the enclosed top where you get amazing views up and down the Thames!

Was proposed to outside the Tower of London three benches down from Tower Bridge… The bridge would’ve been memorable even without the proposal, but now…
