Fremont Street

The first time I went to this place

I had a better time in the one night we were on Freemont Street than the 4 other days we were on the strip. The Strip was crowded and lacking in character compared to Freemont St. which is the offspring of a love affair between Time Square and Bourbon Street. Its bright and flashy like Time Square, but laid back and fun like Bourbon St (without the strong stench of urine). When my husband and I go back to LV, we’re staying in one of the Freemont St. hotels rather than on the strip.

The first time I went to this place

Played a hold ‘em tourney at Binions and went out 25th. We were so tired that we didn’t stick around for the light show. So next visit will see the laser show.

A tip I have about this place

Went there in the afternoon, casinos are large but the strip is better.

Who Gets Credit??

I mean really? Who sat around and thought THIS up? The Fremont Street Experience is mind blowing!

If you stick around after the last show of the night, you can see the crew testing the panels. They turn on one color, say, blue, and check for bulbs that need to be replaced. One of the guys in a huge crane, replaces the bulbs, and then they fire off the next color! A single dead bulb is obvious then!!

Do not miss this! I know it’s not on the strip, but take a moment some evening, and catch at least one of the shows!

I was so mad – the light show wasn’t working when we were there! Interesting ambience around the place though. Seems quite different from the flash on the Strip :)

An interesting way to spend an evening. The light show is fun and there are lots of street vendors. Best time to see it is during Bike Fest(early Sept), then you can see all the motorcyles too! There is almost always a live band on stage and beer vendors on the corners. A total mad house on New Year’s Eve!

Viva Las Vegas!

I have lived in Las Vegas for the past 20 years and, when we moved here, there really wasn’t a whole lot that people could do or places that you could go for free…if you tossed in “having fun” as a condition, you were pretty much down to zero. The Fremont Street Experience changed all that! It is a great place to bring anyone that enjoys lights and music; there is always something going on or someone to watch…and it’s free! For those people that actually have money to spend (a rarity for me), there are all sorts of shops lining both sides of the light show. These range from absolutely cheesy (full of nothing but Las Vegas keychains and cheap t-shirts) to kiosks that sell some fairly high quality, one-of-a-kind merchandise!

My favorite part; however, is the music. They show several different light shows a night – each one complete with its own type of “theme” music. It’s a kick – trust me.

Rock on, Elvis!
