Shea Stadium

Although I am a Yankee fan, shea stadium is still great. Take the 7 train for the authentic experience. Get a beer (or 6 since you aren’t driving) and a DOGZILLA if the weathers nice you can’t beat it.

I watched last summers game: Mets vs. Pittsburgh Pirates. The Mets won of course.

Let’s Go Mets! If you want to experience Shea, you’d better plan on going within the next couple of seasons, as construction has already started on the new stadium (to be named later). Shea is definitely is showing its age-compared to other stadiums it is antiquated. The concessions are sorely lacking, the interior corridors are dark and ugly, and it has a lot of wear and tear. However, there is definitely a charm to this place-the blue and orange, the odd abstract neon baseball players on the exterior, and the massive scoreboard. I highly recommend that you “Take the Train to the Game” (in the words of the commericals). The new stadium is being built right beside Shea and a lot of parking has been sacrificed. Plus, getting home after the game is a HUGE hassle by car. There are a lot of public transportation options (7 Train, LIRR, MetroNorth, buses)-use them! The Mets are awesome, certainly more exciting and interesting than the evil empire in the Bronx.

the mets kicked arse, some guy got badly injured in a 3-way collision with 2 of his teammates as he went for the ball, some guy caught the ball while jumping over the fence and upside down, there was another cool catch, a guy came in a yankee shirt just for spite and got evicted, i had an italian sausage, i got a free hat, there were lots of home runs, the tickets were close and only $9 because it was after they qualified for the playoffs but before the playoffs, we had a foul ball come right near us…

i went with my ex who is a huuuuuge mets fan. before this i had no real interest in baseball but after over a year’s indoctrination i really wanted to go. lol.

It may be a dump … but it’s home to the most exciting shortstop-third baseman combo in NYC.

OK- so it’s purple, it’s got neon batters from the 70’s, AND it’s the home of the New York Mets. Despite all that, it’s not so bad on the inside and the “Amazin’s” look like they’ve got a great season ahead of themselves. It would be nice to see some Mets fans actually utilizing their stadium in Queens…
