I went there wen I was a kid and it was very special to me.
I saw all the comments saying that it’s nothing special but you’ve to look at it not just for the sculpture…it’s a symbol.
I’m not saying you’ve to go to denmark just for the Little Marmeid…but at least go for a look.

you can stop here on the way.. that way you don’t need to walk all the way out since there was nothing else near it we wanted to see…

I think they sell little yellow stickers with “stupid tourist” printed on them here.. really quite good, you can pop one onto your forehead and really get into the part ;)

Not very impressive, but you can’t go to Copenhagen and not see the Little Mermaid. I would suggest going there very late, so there are no turists around (or very few at least). It is well lit, so you can still see it, but you can actually get a clear shot without the whole commotion

Even though our guidebook says that the Little Mermaid is one of the most over-rated pieces of sculpture in the world, I feel that no visit to Copenhagen is complete without a visit to the melancholy sea princess. Once there we lined up to get the obligatory photo. Andrew climbed out to her perch and cuddled up to her for one extra photo. Tick! We checked the Little Mermaid off our list.

I saw this before the stupid disney movie came out. I was here in 1989 with my family.
The biggest thing I remember about it was the smell. There was this rotting seaweed smell that distracted from the beauty of the statue. I loved it nonetheless, I was 9 years old, how could I not?
