If you don’t like garlic, this is not-I repeat, NOT-the restaurant for you. For what it’s worth, you’ll be paying more for mood and fun than for taste and cuisine. The food is over-priced, but half-decent. I, personally, have had bad experiences with the food (my mussels had sand in them), and others have complained as well. But really, it boils down to whether or not you like garlic. If you do, you probably won’t care what my review is. If you don’t or are rather ambivalent, save your time and your wallet and pass this one up.

It’s fun in an uber-touristy way. You’ll spend way more than you should for rather average food, eclectic decor, and the companionship of lots of other out-of-towners. The famous garlic ice cream is kind of nasty.

Because it’s in everything.

Absolutely one of the most unique and tasty restaurants in all of San Francisco. Try the baked garlic appetizer, and don’t forget the garlic ice cream for dessert! Just don’t go on a first date. ;)
