Not worth visiting!

Untitled

I took a friends advice and walked by, he described it as a Dante theme park with nothing real in the place.

disapointing.

A tip I have about this place

Worth walking by to check out Dantes face on the sidewalk, or maybe to hear a street performer recite the Inferno in Italian, but the actual museum is definitely not worth the 4€ entry fee. Not much to see, really.

Why I want to go to this place

coz I’ve read Inferno. And since 2 out of 3 people say it sucks? I think I’ll check it out. I might find treasure. Hehe..

Under Indefinite Renovation

The museum/house was closed when I went. I learned that all of the items in the museum including some of Dante’s personal things were put in storage while the museum was being renovated – then the storage facility burnt down. How ironic. (I feel a pun about Dante’s Inferno coming.) So it’s closed until they figure out what they’re going to do with it.

I'm a great fan of Dante's work, but...

I didn’t like this place. It’s supossed to be a museum with the historical context of Dante, but it has only posters full of text and uninteresting facts. On the second floor, there’s something about the literary works of Dante (the most important thing about him) but there’s too little information. And there’s a room where you can watch a few paintings/drawings inspired on The Divine Comedy. At this point, I tought the library/gift shop would save the visit to this place. I wanted to by a copy of The Divine Comedy (in italian or spanish) and they ONLY had it in english. There were two or three more books talking abouth TDV, but nothing special. The rest were the usual gifts you can find in Florence.
It’s a shame that this great author has such a boring museum.

House of Exile

An odd thing to visit the house of an exile.
(Truth be told, the first time i tried to go, it was under renovation. How does that go? You come all the way to Florence and they’re doing renovations. If nothing else, the walk from the Duomo to his house was one of the best walks i’ve ever taken: look in the windows, and i promise you more wonder.)
