A review of this place: Get Away..

Oh man, I love this place! It’s only an hour and a 1/2 from where I live. You just take 75 straight to there (wether you’re north or south), and once you hit exit 101, just go to the light. Make a left and go to Davis Blvd, and make a right. From there, it’s really up to you where you want to go. There’s actually more to do there then you think! You have the beach (and Marco Island is just South), you have shopping, food, attractions, and of course the beautiful sunset that i’ve seen twice! I love it here!!

A review of this place: Hot and humid!

If you can stand the heat and humidity of Florida in the summer, it’s a nice little place.

I’ve had family there since 1988 so I guess I’m a bit biased, but the pier has always been fun, the shells on the beach are usually great, Tin City was always amusing, and since I’m used to deer running across the road at home, seeing an alligator crossing the road was simply amazing.

Oh the joy,

Hahah.

Naples is so great, you should buy a house on 68th st sw, [off of golden gate parkway. its yellow, two bath, three bedroom, a pool, some land in the back yard, it has a white fence around it and a for sale sign out front! I believe its atleast under 500,000$

Please buy it!
I don’t want to live in naples! (its no place to be a teenager.!)
please! I don’t wanna live here!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

I live in Naples and its definitely better to come visit than to live in UNLESS ur an elder thats rich and loves to golf because Naples is home to about 250 Fortune 500 CEO’s. but Naples can be fun if you come and visit because its relaxing ,nice beach ,quiet, Resteraunts , Boating and downtown is beautiful and shopping is great like little boutiques or Upscale designers stores in Waterside Shops. And Naples isnt a crowded tourist place like Orlando or New York. And if you want to stay in a comfortable Hotel go to Naples Grande or The Rits Carlton and also beach resorts. The weather is usually humid, hot, ocassionally windy but its a gret place to visit.

A review of this place: Great, relaxing, vaycay...

Okay, its not the greatest place to live by an economical point of view. Its hard to find a decent job and the cost of living has gone up by gazillions in the past 15 years, but oh, to vacation there,,,mm. anyway this site isnt really about moving somewhere for good, its about the sights, the sounds, the vibe. I totally recommend for people who want to relax, relax, eat, relax.

i recommend staying at the cove inn. A vintage, not fancy but clean and reasonably priced. Its the only hotel on the docks, and has and great view of beautiful boats moored in harbor. Footsteps away, eat at the famous, lovely Dock restaurant, stroll tin city. Blocks away, naples beach is great, clean, fancy in some places. The best beach is Clam Pass. A boardwalk ride on a golf court, through a mangrove swamp takes you out to this great beach, with towels, umbrellas, a bar, etc. def worth it. Take a drive down the street along the ocean for breathtaking homes of the rich and famous, check out the beautiful ritz carlton..

Some other posters were complaining of the lack of things to do, i think the beach is plenty. If you are desperate for something to do, check out the fabulous shopping, great boutiques.. At the dock near tin city you can charter boats, go on a guided tour of the fantastic real estate…if you are looking for clubs, lots of nightlife, head to miami. If you want a great beach and quiet…naples is it.

Worth visiting!

If I say Naples is worth visisting I'm going to say everywhere is worth visiting...

Besides what do i know about you? But here’s what i know about Naples…I started going there – or being taken there by my parents – about 35 years ago. It really once WAS a sleepy fishing town.

It now has the largest fleet of private jets viewable anywhere, and instead of three golf courses the whole place is golf, golf, golf…Even Highway 41 beside the developments are developed like freeways now!

I actually prefer going there now (since I’ve ground my wanderlust into dust and a boring beach is more my speed these days anyway…)

I just do suggest you bring money, don’t expect excitement, and want rest or golf.

Goodland, near Marco Island, has boat rentals. From there go to Cape Romano to view human folly, and enjoy heat on water, very shallow water.

Corkscrew Sanctuary nearer to Fort Myers is a must see too.

Pick your season.. carefully

We had a great time in Naples, but we were unaware that it was sort of a retirement community. So, not a lot for people younger than 30 years old to do. We had a great time anyway.. White sands.. Gulf of Mexico.. the wife loved the boutiques
If you’re going to go.. head down in April or May and not in August.. It was so hot and steamy.

Why I recommend this place to visitors

If you like quiet then this is the place to go. The beaches are beautiful and there are plenty of restaurants to visit.

Untitled

The most OVERRATED city in Florida. So many other better places to visit and move to. If you are going to move to Southwest Florida, you are better off going to Sarasota instead! The old and rich dominate this place. Entertainment for kids is almost non-existent – hence you have the kids that grew up here with all this money having serious drug and alcohol problems while in high school and many drop out or get pregnant. Those who graduate often leave and never look back. This is not the same place that it was 15-20 years ago. The Miami people have infiltrated and turned the small town lifestyle into utter trash! The town has gotten dirtier and people have become so obnoxiously rude. Just because they move to Naples and mortgaged themselves to high heaven for a overpriced shanty they think that they can act like a Rockefellar. Don’t get me wrong there are some nice homes but most of them are over $2 million! The average house runs a little over 500k, but the actual salaries in this town are FAR BELOW the state average, and Florida already has lower wages than most other states of comparable size. Because of this Naples and Collier County have problems hiring teachers, police officers, firemen, nurses, paramedics – even high salaried pharmacists! It has gotten too crowded that the county can’t keep up with the infrastructure be it roads or schools. Apartments have been going to condos so many are being forced out of their apartments and are trying to find new places to live, most complexes having monthly rents comparable to many other high profile US cities. Those who opt to buy a house often can’t afford this town so they move to Lehigh where property is cheaper – and you get to live next to an incinerator – and drive what is often an hour to 2 hour drive to Naples to work since jobs are harder to find in Ft. Myers than Naples. That drive is not one on a high speed highway its is roughly a 20 mile drive through bumper to bumper traffic barely going over 40 on a overburdened interstate with no definite construction plans yet! People who left the traffic of big cities are no better off here. What is slowly happening is an exodus of those who came here hoping to find good jobs, better lifestyle, and paradise – but quickly realized that paradise was/is lost so they move to North Florida, Tennessee, or North Carolina. Those that been here for 20 years and bought their home for 100k now sell it for 700k to some Yankee or East Coast fool who thinks this place is the pinnacle of good living … suckers!!!

Why I want to go to this place

I want to attend the Naples Winter Wine Festival. It combines a couple of my “things to do” which is attend a wine festival and to attend a charity auction. It would cost an arm and a leg…but probably not mine, kills those two birds with one Magnum stone. This is a definite must do for me.

So, if you’re not using your tickets this year…....
