The Botanic Gardens
Worth visiting!
The last time I went to this place
I went here last year with Lucyann during our Glaswegian minibreak to see Ben Folds. We’d always wondered where lentils came from – a topic of some discussion amongst our friends – so we took the opportunity to ask one of the botanical experts. I can’t remember what the explanation was, to be honest. What I can remember, though, is the explanation that we gave our friends on our return to the Toon. We told them that the man at the botanical gardens had informed us that lentils come from a pod that grows in the ground beneath a carnivorous plant that traps and digests flies and small insects and that I was now having a vegetarian’s dilemma as to whether they were an ethically viable food. Amazingly, they all fell for it, and to this day they believe us. Psyche!
