Not sure what I was expecting… but not the sad, dreary, run down little town I found!

... If you’re driving along the 40 and you feel a need to find out exactly what the Eagles were singing about, go ahead and stop. There’s a corner designated Standin’ On A Corner Park, compete with a mural of a woman driving by in a flatbed Ford and a statue of a man with a guitar. Not worth an entire day trip but you can easily see this place in less than a half hour. If you need your fill of Route 66/Standin’ On A Corner Park merchandise, there’s a drug store across the street that has everything you could ever hope for.

Born here, but theres a prision right there, so all your wanna-be ganes are there. And slum they’ve kicked out of Holbrook, Arizona… It’s alright but I wouldn’t move or go there by choice.

Take It Easy

My stepfamily lives in Winslow, and I visit at least once a year.
It’s fairly quiet, but the people are really great and it’s pretty peaceful.

It’s not far from Meteor Crater or Flagstaff, so there are plenty of things to do.

My friend and I accidently ended here on the way back to El Paso Texas on the tail end of a spontaenous trip to the Grand Canyon one Forth of July weekend in the early 90’s.

There wasn’t much there, we stayed a dive of a motel where we paid the manager in beer for our room. we finished the visit off by driving like crazy people in a huge rainstorm down the middle of the town. we didn’t see any other cars on the road – it was a pretty boring town.
