GO HERE!!!

this is my favorite place in all the world, so far. I love the huge O’Keefe (Sky Above Clouds) in the stairwell. I love the lions out front, the miniature rooms, the libraries, the Van Gogh’s, the hall of Armour, the textiles, the deco furniture, the sculture garden, the everything.

It’s enormous: you will never see it all in one day. Or two days. I must have gone 100 times when I lived in Evanston, and discovered something new each time.

I didn’t have enough time. I need to go back when I can devote the entire day or go for a few hours with the intention of really focusing on a small area.

Seeing Seurat’s “Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jette” was life-changing. It’s so beautiful and large in person.

It was amazing and worth going to. There was a good mix of art and it was very interesting. I enjoyed the contemporary art the best and got to see staff members put together an installation art piece. It really was a great experience.

On the website they advise:
“Thursday evenings, 5:00-8:00, throughout the year are free to all”

Wonderful. Room after room of priceless paintings that the art-lovers will recognize.

Usually Tuesdays are free, so take the day off of work, or try and visit here mid-week and you can visit this, as well as other museums for free during the work week.
