Art Institute of Chicago

I was kind’ve blown away. Some of it is just amazing, others not so much. A lot of galleries were closed so I’ll have to go back when they’re reopened. But it was still really nice. I’d go back. Tip #1, don’t get too close to anything or a really loud annoy beep goes off and people come running!

Their special exhibits are amazing. Go when they have something special going on, because the educational component that they add is always worth the trip. A lot to see on a normal day too, especially the Thorne miniature rooms. They are my favorites.

I was looking at my 43places list and remembered that I came here a while ago. I decided to look up the museum’s new exhibitions and found this also:

So hurry up and go for free! You have 7 days left to do so! You could go everyday of this month, make it your new home, etc. go go go.

If only I lived in Chicago ;(

I used to go here all the time on free Thursday nights when I lived in Chicago. My favorite places are the contemporary galleries, the photography galleries and the Pacific islands native art gallery.

Not only is the art simply amazing, the building itself is a masterpiece. It is so large that you need to take a couple of days to take it all in!

It’s nice to go during free admission, but make sure you can take your art with a dose of sweaty body heat before you commit your afternoon.

I loved the Art Institute of Chicago and enjoyed the people. I woudl definitley return. But when the Hawk strarts blowing off Lake Michigan you know exactly why it is called The Windy City.

I spent a good part of the day wandering around in here…. I love it… They had Degas! My favorite!

If you go with a school group or a group at all get maps!!
You will get lost if you seperate from each other!
