Sintra

If you wanna go and see the fairytale castle in Sintra – which is really nice to visit – make sure you go there by car or by cab/taxi because it is a long and steep walk up the hills. And it takes probably up to an hour if you prefer to walk!!! For people with a small budget, there is also a bus station.

On Mondays almost all museums, castles etc. are closed in Portugal, so don’t go there on Monday if you wanna visit the castle.

I go there in my honeymoon, because is MY DREAM, and my husband give that to me: is so beautiful. Is full of palaces, a castle, and some farms ( but not in traditional way: in Portugal a farm is a very good piece of land with a small palace, forest, maybe a small church, and a lots of beauty).

Any place were all the Portuguese royalty and courtiers built thier summer homes is a good enough place for me.
I have a water color painting of the Pena palace hanging on my wall. The entire area is like a fairy tail.

This has been by far the most amazing place that I have traveled to. I stayed in the Central Hotel, which had a wonderful smell of old times, and handed us antique keys. It was a wonderful experience, eventough the day was very rainy and the night was very cold. The weather helped to create a very wierd atmosphere, and I remember listening to bells chiming every hour as I tried to sleep. Sintra has a beautiful barroque castle, a convent and a fortress. I just can´t wait to go back. Eventhough I only spent one day in Sintra, I still miss it sometimes. It´s a place taken out of a fairytale

Sintra is an absolute must see…it is gorgeous and close to Lisbon..with a whimsical palace, castle ruins and alot of trees and areas to walk. I highly recommend…

and had a lovely time. I didnt get a chance to see the Palace since it was closed, but I did visit the Moorish Castle and that was nice.

You should definaletly try the quejidas, small cakes filled with sweet cheese, Sintra is famous for them!
