Vancouver Island

I was a kid, and I got the chicken pox… but it was a beautiful place. I remember the totem poles the best… and the ferry ride over from the mainland. I would love to go back one day!

Very touristy, but a good destination for the Americans with the colonial envy. Decide ahead of time if $40+ for “High Tea” at the hotel is… your cup of tea.

Its pretty, but the ferry ride over to the Island is probably going to be the most eventful part of your journey.

Visited Victoria as part of a trip from Vancouver to Calagary Via the Rockies. Didn’t see that much of the place as the main reason for going was to go watch killer whales out in the waters around the island. FANTASTIC. A must do once in a lifetime activity. What we saw of Victoria was really great and the hotel we stayed in, Laural Point Resort Hotel at the harbour entrance was terrific!

I grew up in a tiny community just outside of Victoria, its called Saanichton. I haven’t met many people who love their hometwons as much as i love my hometown. Its a beautiful place to visit, a touch crowded in the summer, especailly when the Butchart Gardens are in bloom. they put on some awesome fire works.
come here, great B&B’s to stay in, and if you get bored with the island, theres all the Golf Islands to explore (also highly recomended)

Vancouver Island is my favourite place on earth. I really hope to live there one day!

Ocean, mountains, trees, fresh air, solitude. I can’t find anything I dislike about the island!

small place and um, the big problem with it is that it is a hole and mostly full of boarding schools

I had a good time on Vancouver Island, but had far too little time! I mostly just saw Victoria, and only heard about the beautiful places on the Western coast.
One thing NOT to do: NEVER stay at the hostel called something like “Turtle”.. “Rainbow”... ah, why is this happening to my memory?! I think it was Turtle Hostel. Cheap but horrifying.

I really think this is one of the most incredible places in the world.. not that I’ve seen nearly enough. I love living here and am slightly sad to be leaving for other adventures.

My friends tell me I should live here…even the ferry ride over is nice.
