A tip I have about this place

We love to spend the night here! Yes, you can sleep over night there. Dozin’ with the dino’s.

Such fun, exploring the museum by flashlight until 1:00 am. You cannot pass up this opportunity.

The first time I went to this place

This place is HUGE and so much to see. Due to lack of time, I breezed through most of the museum. There is an area where there is Pacific/Asian/Island stuff, African stuff, Animals, the King Tut Exhibit, dinosaur stuff, plants/vegetation, gems. If there was anything else, I forgot.

I was disappointed with the King Tut exhibit, though. It wasn’t what I thought.

This place one of the coolest museums in Chicago. Especially if you are somebody who likes looking at really old stuff. It always kills me to do lunch here so I would do this place before lunch, walk myself up an appetite and go someplace afterwards or come check it out after.

Not worth visiting!

The last time I went to this place

It was horrifically crowded, all the special exhibits were sold out and the room with all the dead animals just made me sad.
I’ll never go back!

Why I want to go to this place

The main reason why I’m going is to see the King Tut exhibit. I am a huge dork, but I’m looking foreword to it!

A tip I have about this place

To get more out of your experience, plan ahead! Try to pick out specific things you’d like to see ahead of time.

The museum itself is gigantic and packed full of exhibits to the point where you can spend an entire day and still not see everything it has to offer. As a result, you or someone in your party may get quite bored of staring at particular subjects.

For example, I planned on making a stop at both Shedd Aquarium and the Museum on one trip a few years ago. Since I couldn’t possibly enjoy the entirity of both attractions in one day I planned out specific things to satisfy my tastes. Seahorse exhibit at the aquarium, and dinosaurs and the lions (from the story Ghost in the Darkness) at the museum. This way I had four hours to wander around at each location after spending as much time as I wanted at my desired exhibit.

Because of my home location I am able to visit Chicago whenever I feel like it, giving me any and all opportunities to go back if I missed something. Not everyone has this luxury which is why I suggest trying to plan a schedule :)

I've been here before . . .

But I really want to visit again this year, to take my son to see the King Tut exhibit again. We saw it in LA, and it was wonderful – he’s even more interested in ancient Egypt now than he was then, so I’m going to try and take him sometime this summer. I think we have airline vouchers, so assuming I can get tickets, we should be able to do this! Plus, I haven’t seen Sue yet. Chicago, here we come! :)

I’ve loved going here ever since I was a little kid. The museum has always had some kind of wonderful temporary exhibit at any given time, and the permanent ones are endlessly interesting. I’m really excited to see King Tut!
