Ko Tao aka: Koh Tao

Amazing strip of beach connecting 3 small islands.
During high tide, the beach is underwater and you can wade across and see the tropical fish swim by your feet.

I came here back in 2003 and loved the relaxing vibe of the place. Most people come here to go scuba diving. The diving here isn’t particularly great, but easy and cheap.

Never had time for diving, but had a chance to go snorkelling and that was fantastic too

We ended up not going scuba diving because of time constraints but snorkeling was just as fun. There were tons of fish and they were scared of you at all, clown fish, angel fish, barracuda and lots of other fish that I’m not sure what they were. There was not much to do in the town at night but it was worth it for the gorgeous beaches and beautiful sunsets.

For the most tasteful of budget accommodations I cannot but recommend Blue Wind at the northern end of the beach, which has none of that adolescent atmosphere of overcrowded Simple Life and such, but features smartly placed private huts, a yoga room, and its own beach restaurant.

Nothing to do but dive…
I was in Koh Tao back in 2000, so it may be worlds different by now, but when I went there was nothing to do but dive. That was a good thing. I ended up extending my stay there and getting additional dive certifications because it was just such a great place to hang out. Diving all day, drinking on the beach at night…
I remember sitting in my cabin on the mountainside over the beach drinking a beer and watching a storm roll in. When it storms out there, it storms good. I would love to go back and dive again someday…

Barracuda, Blue Spotted Rays, Clownfish, Sea Turtles, Very large Triggerfish, and on the day that I took off… Whale Sharks…

We were only supposed to spend a couple of days here but we ended up staying for over a week! It was just that chill! Really relaxed and great if you wanna find some secluded beaches of your own…

I enjoyed Koh Tao more for the friends i was with then the place it self.The place was layed back and so nice (not really nice places to swim around the accommodation area, though a day boat trip for snorkeling was very nice.

Diver paradise though; there must be so much competition that you could get some very good prices here.

Koh Tao is an amazing island-I didn’t feel like I was in Thailand at all. Everythings in English- lots of cool pubs and resturants. And amazingly scuba diving wasn’t so bad. I have been there 3 times already. I think if you want to practice your diving, this place is a cheap alternative.

We stayed at the Ko Tao resort which was FABULOUS. The pool was gorgeous, the food was divine. And the sun set right across from where we were every night.
