Montauk

Plehhh try driving here in the summer time. There’s only one road out to the furthest most eastern point of long island, montauk highway. And after you spend hours in traffic just to get past the hamptons, it’s about another hour through the wilderness. I love montauk highway on a cold and cloudy day lol.

The waves here are larger than any other LI beaches. It’s kind of a surfer’s town (umm new york surfers lol). There’s a campground here, but you have to book your weekend in the summer like a year in advance O__o If you make it all the way out there, you have to do the horseback riding on the beach tour!!

It seems everything I love has a link to Montauk.

To me, it’s just one of those places that takes a hold of you, regardless of whether you’ve been there or not.

Went all the way to the light house… It was fun, I wish I had went inside, but the people I was with didnt want to go in..oh wel..fun none-the-less.

I didn’t enjoy the attitudes from many people there. I don’t know whether it’s a racial thing or a money thing, it’s was obviously felt it was surreal… :P

I visited Montauk in late August a few years ago. It was a lovely, quiet town. There were several small hiking trails in the area. I walked out to the end of Long Island and saw people surfing off the South Fork.

The birds there are great. It is really fantastic in the winter, when it is quiet and the seals are out on the rocks. You can walk on the beach and see hundreds of waterfowl. I miss the Brants geese and the Eider. We don’t have them in Flordia. The drive out is totally worth it.

I took my girlfriend out here the morning of her birthday. We got up at 4 AM and drove all the way out from Hempstead area to Montauk on Rt. 27, aka Sunrise Highway. It was amazing. We drove all the way there as the sky lit up and then arrived just as the sun rose over the Atlantic.

Went to see the light house here when I lived on Long Island for a brief period of time.

Chilly chill. Never with snow, but I’ve been there in the cold of winter and the dark of night.

The south fork of the island – very pretty. Personally, I prefer the North fork and Orient, but no trip to LI is complete without a trip to Montauk and the lighthouse. The end :-)
