Punta Cana

Nice location, lazy people

I have been to Punta Cana several times now. the Island itself is great, but many of the locals are hustlers, you walk outside the resort and everyone tries to sell you cocaine and hookers. We stayed at 4 or 5 star resorts each time and the service etc was decent. People are friendly, but you can tell quite a few of them are pretty hard up. They really need their job. compare this to Mexico where the standard of living is better and you see the difference in how people act and how easy i is to get around or even holiday away form a resort. I would not recommend coming here unless you go to an all inclusive resort. Even being able to speak Spanish, I find this place frustrating every time I go.

A review of this place: My trip of pure relaxation...

was just that. The beaches are beautiful. The people are super friendly, down to earth and genuinely happy. It has been as such in most all the Caribbean Islands that I have visited. Which, in my opinion, undoubtedly, is accredited to the fact that they live in pure paradise – or at least from our perspective. And the beer! El Presidente rocks! An y place that I have been able to find it since, I order it up.Miami for sure…but it’s overly priced in the U.S. compared to down there. The price you pay to reconnect with your personal bit of heaven I suppose. My only word of advice for visiting la Republica Dominicana is that you get what you pay for. If the vacation seems really cheap, there will be something lacking. In my case, it was the food. And I imagine that since it is a highly under-devoloped country, a long weekend trip is more than sufficient b/c there is not much to do outside of the resorts. No shopping! Just little table vendors they bring into the resorts. There is an awesome, really well known club, which for the life of me I cannot remember the name of, but don’t go without someone at the resort in attendance. Just in case…
Enjoy!

How this place changed my life

This was probably the most beautiful place I have ever been in my life—that’s if you stay at a resort. The people are really friendly and there really is no drinking age..ha.

My experience...

First and fore most, this place is BANGING!!! This is the type of place you come to party! A word of caution, don’t flash any big money ‘round here, you never know who’s watching you. Especially inexperienced tourists. Other than that, this place is AWESOME!!!

How this place changed my life

I went to the Dominican Repubic for my best friends wedding and what a trip it turned out to be. The water was incredible, the people were great and the wedding was amazing. I never thought I would enjoy a group trip like this but it was awesome. We got to swim with dolphins, sharks and sting rays. A couple of people took helicopter rides and everyone had a blast. It was a trip I will never forget.

How this place changed my life

I travelled to Punta Cana with my cousins and it was such a trip to remember. I had never been outside of Canada (the States doesn’t count) and visiting the Dominican was so wonderful. We had such a great time, chillin on the beach, meeting a tonne of great people. Everyone is so friendly and the best part was sharing this experience with the people I love. After this trip I caught the travel bug. My husband and I have promised that once a year we have to get away and travel!
