Churchill Downs

I went to Louisville for a conference but had an excellent time at Churchill Downs. The tours are definitely worth it, especially the one that goes “behind the scenes” and allows you to visit the horses.

Great museum, and to walk Churchill Downs is something special. Can’t wait to go to the Kentucky Derby someday.

It was crowded! The people were beautiful of course, the women with the matching hats, handbags and shoes. The gentleman in polos or suits. Of course there were locals who people watched and made fun of those dressed like they were cinderella and her prince…I have to say that is kinda fun. Frilly dresses and big hats were competing with the noble steeds for my attention. I was in awe for awhile. It was like I stepped back in time. I had a terrific time and so did my children..my youngest is a shoe hog already and couldn’t keep up with who had the best heels. You sooo have to experience this.

Wake up early and go to “Dawn at the Downs”.

Obviously famous for the Kentucky Derby; however, The Oaks tends to be the local party. Racing also occurs most months of the year here.

I got to see many of the horses on their morning workouts, and learned a lot of history of the Horse Racing and Triple Crown world.

I’ve been here and around here many times. I’m not much on betting, but I love the atmosphere. My grandma lives very close, so we can practically hear the races from her backyard.

It’s hot and it smells bad. Horses are much prettier on the farms…

Everyone should visit the infield on Derby Day at least once in their life. So very much fun. The third turn is the place to be in the infield
