Loved Otavalo. Awesome markets on the weekend, with low prices. Beautiful surroundings and good food. Try to be there for the weekend market.

The bus trip from Quito was insane however. He was taking the corners so fast, the tyres rubbed on the wheel arches. :)

Great visit.. If I had to live anywhere in Ecuador except Quiot this would be it. Yes the market is great but really the what stands out is the people. The culture found here is a overall wonderful experiance. I have friends that live and work here. the gave me a great tour of the place and a little outside of the city there is an amazing waterfall you have to crawl threw a rock opening to get to it. You have to ask a local about the “cascada” while you are there.

You don’t need to go on the special big market day, Saturday. I went on Thursday and there were plenty of stalls, the town square was full! The bus from Quito costs about 5 dollars return and takes a couple of hours each way. A nice route.

This marketplace was truely amazing. Everyone trying tosell their goods at the best price to make some cash. I could have spent my life saving here and would have to have had to buy an extra duffle to carry eveything back homne with me. I do have some interesting treasures from Otavalo. Interesting conversation pieces.

You can not go to Quito with out taking the ride out to Otovalo. It is a day trip but worth every minute, from the views ot the best craft market in the world. And be sure to go to the Leather Market also!

Stay at the Hacienda Pinsaqui… it is the most beautiful place I have ever stayed in my life!

Don’t bring more money than you are willing to spend!. Chances are that you’ll spend everything you’ve got on those wonderful bargains…

An interesting market town in the far north of Ecuador. If you are going to Ecuador, it is definitely worth going here!
