Eat at Ajax on the Square, and take a drive out to Yocona River Inn for the best steak you really have ever had in your life. Also, the crab cakes at 208 are a must have

I visited here in ‘05 while en route to Gulfort primarily to see Rowan Oak (William Faulkner’s home). What a wonderful day we had.

Twenty something years ago I came to Oxford to visit a girl and fell in love with this town. I never left. It’s grown by leaps and bounds since that weekend, yet has managed to retain that small towm charm and warmth that enchanted me to begin with. Oh, and the girl? Well, she’s been my wife for twenty years now.

Oxford is an awesome town full of great bars, shops, restaurants, and fun things to do that are off-the-beaten path. Don’t miss dinner at Taylor Grocery (remember to bring your 5th of Jack Daniels and get ready to tailgate while you wait for a table). Have a “Sex on the Square” (if you’re a girl) at the Burgundy Room balcony. Browse the shelves at Square Books, and then read your new book on the grounds of Rowan Oak. Check out http://wikitravel.org/en/Oxford_(Mississippi)
for everything you need to know about visiting Oxford. Read it thorougly!

I was born in Oxford. Nice place, great people, excellent lifestyle. It really reminds me a lot of New England (especially the Square), and it has lots of good qualities to it. Great food, and if you’re looking for an excellent university, Ole Miss is the place to be. Give it a shot if you’re looking for a beautiful vacation spot; there’s almost never a shortage of things to do.
