Alcatraz aka: The Rock

This place is incredible! It has such an eery feel to it when your walking around and it really is amazing to hear about all of the amazing stories that happened there. I definatly recomend it.

You should take the evening ferry that returns at Sunset. The SF skyline and sunset is beautiful.

I lived in San Francisco many years ago and always wanted to visit Alcatraz. It never happened until last month when I went back to visit on vacation. It seems you only really see anything when you’re on vacation! It would probably have been slightly better I had taken a normal tour, but I didn’t want to pay extra so I stuck with the audio tour. It can be interesting, but I’d recommend going when it’s not rainy so that the boat ride will at least be enjoyable if you don’t end up enjoying the rest. Wouldn’t mind seeing what the night tour was all about either..

One of the coolest places I have ever been…i spent hours and could have spent the whole day

This place was amazing! It’s one of the best places I’ve been.

The tour was very interesting and they gave you head phones and a player and so you could go at your own pace, pausing it to check out the cell or room and then playing it at will.

An island with a lot of history. This was a tour that was well worth taking. It is long and very informative. The way it was presented covered not just the buildings, history, but you really got the feel of the place. A very meaningful experience!

we went and they re-opened it up and me and squacks had to stay. we did 12 years hard-time

Creepy, but way cool. I recommend seeing the classic “Escape From Alcatraz” and/or So I Married an Axe Murderer after visiting this place.
