I recall the VietNam memorial and walking along the reflecting pond…

nice park

I’ve spent many relaxing evenings meandering around the mall. Nice place to jog or dog walk, if you live in the area.

Take the time...

to walk the entire mall area. There are so many small monuments that most people miss because they don’t take the time. They just run around all day on a bus, only getting down to see the biggest most popular ones. Spring time when the cherry trees are in bloom is the prettiest!

The center of it all, kinda

Pretty much the core of my visit to DC all those years back understandably revolved around the Mall—more so then either the Capitol or the White House, neither of which we visited. It was a good spring day and I remember a heck of a lot of walking, which probably made me a little tired and cranky at the end of it all, but it was all worth it! And it does stretch on…

When I was younger

My Aunt took me to DC, and we walked through this area. I remember they were selling braclets with the names of missing soldiers. That really struck me.

A tip I have about this place

I would definately recommend trying to go at night! Not only is there less people at night, but it’s really beautiful. I was lucky enough to get there as the sun was finishing going down, and it was really awesome. And then once it gets dark, the wall almost blends into the night except for some little floor lamps shining off of it.
