Ellis Island

Hmm.. this isn’t any of the above choices for what kind of entry this is.
I went to the statue again this month and because of increased “security” it took an extra hour to get on the ferry to the statue, we stood in line for security ON the island to get into the Statue for 2 hours after we got there. My son was sea sick and had to leave his bottle of water in a locker, along with my infant’s baby food. We didn’t have access to these things while we spent most of the afternoon in a security line in an unairconditioned room . By the time we finally got into the statue and back out, none of us had the patience to even get off of the boat at Ellis.

This is a really neat place. Very interesting.

Very historical… pretty…

Well, we almost made it here. I went to the Statue a week ago, but by the time we headed back, it was too late to spend any time at Ellis Island. You’d think that living here in the city, I’d see a few of these places.

i did a performance in the main hall. they never let anyone do that, but it was raining so hard they kind of had to let me. so exciting! anyways, great history in that place. the only thing i don’t like is the ferry ride. i hate waiting on lines. they need to build a huge bridge. but then again, i hate new york traffic. ha. looks like i won’t be going back.

Like it. I really like all the tools they have on display for how they checked the immigrants. It’s weird but I liked it.

If you’re in NYC you have to make an effort to go here. There’s so much modern history – very informative, interesting and well presented at that – of the USA here it’d be a crime not to.

i grew up in brooklyn. so many people can trace relatives to brooklyn and of course ellis island. what’s neat is seeing the names of some of my family members from italy and hungary.

It’s amazing how many people passed through this port of entry.
