Bar Harbor

if you like hiking, good food, quaint towns, nature, great scenery…it can be as relaxing or vigorous as you choose, a versatile destination.

I had a wonderful time here. It is a quaint little town with quite a view. I believe we stayed at the Bar Harbor Inn – which is the place to stay. I even fought my allergy to have a sip of their lobster bisque which was really yummy …!

Once upon a time, Bar Harbor was where many of the rich and richer found solace from the clang and bang of city life. Many of the “cottages” of the rich were destroyed in fires and with age, but the town still, as far as I know, attracts visitors from all sides of the economic spectrum.

One can hardly find a better place, on the east coast, to spend the hot months of summer. The entire Mt. Desert island park is breathtaking, as are the surrounding bays. Many famous writers and historians have lived, and still live, in this beautiful part of the country.

When I lived in Bangor, we’d regularly travel down to Acadia National Park, and we’d usually stop in Bar Harbor for window shopping and/or ice cream on the way out.

Bar Harbor is great. I have been there twice. Last time was for the 4th of July. It was packed, so do what we did and go on one of the sailing trips. You can bring your own picnic and you get a fantastic view of the fireworks without being crammed in with the crowds. Explore Arcadia and other towns. Very pretty!

Wasn’t exactly Bar Harbor, it was Jonesport..still, it was so relaxing..right on the water and gorgeous views of the ocean everywhere. Small town..the perfect getaway.

and the foliage is breathtaking! Take a boatride to Cranberry Island and eat fresh gingerbread. Eat lobster…lots of lobster.

Seal and whale watching, fun locals, CHEAP lobster, the best I have ever had. I can’t wait to go back!
