Why I want to go to this place

Not really. I know I couple people from here. I asked one of them what the winters are like here. He said, well why don’t you take all of your clothes off and climb in a deep freezer for 5 minutes. He also said that people get used to that cold. I would be embarrassed to be from a place like this and I’ll tell you why: it is not possible to exist without being indoors for some amount of time. In other words, during the winter, no matter how cold tolerant you think you are, you will have to go inside (for some amount of time), or freeze to death from exposure That’s a joke. No thanks, I think I’ll get get used to a climate like San Diego. If I were forced to deal with the cold like this I would much rather move to Alaska!!!

A tip I have about this place

Take the inexpensive Vista fleet that cruises along the Duluth superior harbors and Lake superior. It’s a one and a half hour of refreshing ride!

Why I want to go to this place

I’m going there with our family friends. I’m not that excited about this place, going mainly because it’s a close destination from my place and thought it’s good to check out how the largest fresh water lake in the world looks like :-)

The last time I went to this place

My dad lives here. The last time I saw him was at Christmas of 2004. Duluth is more than just a pretty town on Lake Superior. In a lot of ways, it feels like a home. Friendly people, peaceful setting, splendid scenery.

The first time I went to this place

was in January 2008. I interviewed for an internship at the University. Due to other obligations and limited flight options in and out, I stayed a couple of nights and was able to do a little sight seeing in spite of the minus 17 degrees (F) temperatures! I was told that it had been a mild winter, only 40 inches of snow by that time.

I stayed in the Radisson (Top of the Harbor restaurant and all) and walked (indoors) through the skywalk, which connects the hotel to other parts of the Duluth downtown. Clever people! Staying indoors and still getting out and around.

I will upload a picture I took from one part of the skywalk that goes over a street.

Also recommend Tuerkes German shop – chocolates, Christmas decorations, coffee!

Enjoyed the campus and noticed that most of the buildings on the campus are also connected, out of the cold, through underground hallways.

Brrr…

Not worth visiting!

they have a bridge names bong bridge

so get this you have a million dollars to spend choose an option:

option A: buy a house on lake superior, have a house with lots of windows, own a boat and a couple canoes and kayaks. no the lake is frozen 9 months of the year the other 3 are windy cold and possibly rainy about 15 days of the 3 months. all the roads are covered in snow 9 months of the year, the downtown is pitiful, the road around the lakes speed limit is 30 and one lane.

Option B: by house on the beach in california, have smaller windows, smaller house but able to use the beach to your pleasure 365 days of the year have beach parties tell your friends who live in duluth you live like a celeb, the road by the ocean is 55, 10 lanes and downtown is spectacular, warm all the time

The first time I went to this place

I’ve lived in Minnesota for the most of my life and have never been to Duluth! My first trip was a lot of just walking around town, but was good.
Jogging along Superior in the morning equals awesome.

A review of this place

I go to UMD, so I’m up in Duluth for most of the year. It’s got beautiful scenery, but it’s freezing cold in the winter. There was a huge crocheting trend last year and no wonder. It’s COLD! Also, for the gays, Duluth has a great GLBT community – we’re not as big as the GLBT community in Minneapolis I’m sure, but we’re here. ;P Anyway, let’s see… stuff to do, I would recommend going to Canal Park if you’re a visitor. That’s what most people do I think. Go for a walk near the shore, for sure. We also have sports such as hockey and… hockey. Okay there’s other things too, but we really like our hockey.

Why I recommend this place to locals

One of things I miss most about living in the Cities was having Duluth just a little hop up 35W. I’ve honestly taken a trip up there just to be near the “natural air condidtioning” of Lake Superior during a bad heat wave. But the city is just beautiful, especially near the Harbor (of course), and the boardwalk along the shore. I could sit for hours watching the ore barges coming & going. Superior Street is really hip, with Pizza Luce, Electric Fetus, the Nor Shor theatre and lots of other shops & nightclubs.

A review of this place

I ran the William Irvin 5k here two years in a row. The city is beautiful, especially running along the water. There’s a nice free maritime museum along the water as well.
