Samos

i didnt find this place worth visiting. theres nothing special

My great-grandfather immigrated from Samos and I would love to visit there, even if I never find family. The fact that I share blood with SOMEONE on the island is enough to make me feel connected.

I was here in the summer of 2002, visiting all the island.
Place to go: Kalovathy Waterfalls, Efpalinion (a tunnel designed by Pitagoras), up in the mountains, the excelent beach, Monastery of Spiliani (inside a cave) & many more.

Must have:
a bottle (or more) of this divine yellow Samos wine they have
a soulvaki + tzaziki
a walk along the main docking port, betwenn the ships.

A bit touristy…

Not as picturesque as the Cyclades, but still rather pleasant.

Trees, mountains, wonderful beaches, lots of sightseeing to do.

This is where I spent my first night in Greece during my travels there last summer. I love this quaint little island! The people here are really nice and the island itself is beautiful. You can watch the sunrise over Turkey in the morning – it’s lovely!

A lot of history here too (see Pythagaros) and mythology (see Hera).
